Esquina, Corrientes Province offer subtropical weather, crisp in winter mornings and warm the rest of the day.
The season runs from April to November, however anglers can catch and release all year around and the peak season is in warm days in the south hemisphere, that is about from early April until early June and then from August until November10th when close the season. One of the main fishing rivers is the Rio Corriente which originates in the Esteros del Iberá, National Monument where are huge swamps and immense lagoons, and an incredible fauna population.
This area sits south of Iguazú Falls in the heart of the wilderness of the province watershed . The fishing area is a large and wonderful river system where dorado live; hundred of streams constitute an intricate fluvial geography which is their perfect habitat. Angling technique is fly fishing only and catch-and-release, wading and casting from boats, which are used everyday to move about within this wide region of streams. Dorados are never a sure bet and they have completely different behaviours to other fish; they are nomads and move in schools miles a day, staying in some areas for a couple of days while feasting on their preferred food, which are minnows. Anglers can expect to hook between 10 to 20 fish a day in the 4 -7 pounds range and some bigger sizes, about 10 to 15 pounds; depending on water level, weather conditions and the fisherman´s skills .
